You can use classifications to categorise your products. These classifications are based on the GS1 Global Product Classification, which defines a common set of categories that can be used for any product in any industry. This differs from product tags that you define yourself. Another key difference is that your products can only have a single classification assigned, whereas a product can be assigned any number of product tags.

Choosing a default classification for your shop

If many of your products share the same classification then we recommend setting that classification as the default option in your shop’s settings. Every product in your shop will be assigned this classification unless you assign it with an alternative.

  1. Navigate to the Manage area of your site and then to Settings
  1. Click on "Edit shop profile"
  1. In the Default Product Classification box, click "Choose"
  1. Click your desired classification
  1. Click "Finish"
  1. Publish changes to apply this update to your live site.

Applying a classification to multiple products

  1. Navigate to the ‘Products’ tab, which enables you to update the product classification for multiple products at once.
  1. Check the box beside each product that you wish to update. Alternatively you can click the top checkbox to select all products on the page. This is particularly useful in combination with the search/filter function in the left menu.
  1. Click on "Assign classifications"
  1. Click "Choose"
  1. Click your desired classification
  1. Click "Update"
  1. Publish changes to apply this update to your live site.

Adding a product gallery for a specific classification

  1. Click "Edit"
  1. Navigate to the page where you would like to create a product gallery
  1. Click on the + icon
  1. Click "Product Gallery"
  1. Click "Products will be chosen by specifying their classification and tags."
  1. Click "Choose"
  1. Click your preferred classification
  1. Click "Finish" when done
  1. Publish changes to display this product gallery on your live site.
